Bio

Personally speaking:
I was born in England to a half-Tahitian mother, and am a dual  citizen of the United States and France.   I have called England, Tahiti, The Bahamas, Texas, California and Canada home, and now live in Saratoga Springs, NY.  I live my life within a global, cross-cultural, multilingual perspective — which makes things interesting. I have a wide range of professional and personal interests.

Academically speaking:
I have a bachelor’s degree (magna cum laude) from the University of Ottawa, Canada; a master’s degree in Dramatic Art and Dance from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Ph. D in Media and Communication (magna cum laude) from the European Graduate School in Switzerland (egs).

Professionally speaking:
I am the Dean of the School of the Arts and Humanities, and a tenured faculty member in the arts, digital media, and learning and emerging technologies at SUNY Empire State College. In previous positions, I have been Director of Curriculum and Instructional Design, the director of instructional technology and the director of the university dance company, Sul Ross Ballet Folklórico de las Americas. As you will see from the categories on this site, I teach, research, create, design and do all kinds of things. I enjoy being active and engaged in interesting projects and love to learn new things.

I have designed and implemented a number of innovative, university wide curricular improvement and development programs at micro and macro levels.   These projects include large scale course development for a variety of degree programs (both on campus and in distributed environments), from multidisciplinary undergraduate programs to advanced hybrid graduate courses with residencies and online components.

I was a 2006 recipient of the SUNY Chancellor’s Excellence Award.
