Complete Fantasy Avatars

Complete Fantasy Avatars

Prior to becoming the Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities at  SUNY Empire State College, I coordinated the Digital Art and Design curriculum, and taught in this area at both the undegraduate and graduate levels. I have the following related areas of expertise:

3D Character Creation
is one of my areas of expertise in digital arts and design (and great fun). I specialize in realistic humans and complete fantasy role play characters for virtual worlds such as Second Life and Inworldz. For images of my avatar collections, see: http://images.nicolamarae.com/p447514408

New Media, Web Media and Digital Design
My concepts and models created in digital design, interactive and immersive web media, and web systems development have been applied to hundreds of online courses (visual enhancements; interactive flash animations; animated learning objects; web-based learning objects; math and science visualizations; videos designed to give students an immersive virtual experience; virtual online laboratories; multimedia components, etc.). In addition, I have designed web based systems and a wide range of web-based and new media artifacts.

Advanced Interactive Media Arts and 3D Virtual Worlds
My professional development and artistic endeavors in digital arts and emerging technologies include several seminar series on 3D immersive worlds, SIGGRAPH conferences, courses, and workshops, with a special emphasis on interaction design for sensory integration, immersive virtual environments, 3D visualization; and advanced training in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Premiere, Macromedia Director, Dreamweaver and Flash, Final Cut Pro and a wide range of small new media development tools. I am active in immersive virtual worlds as a creator, researcher, educator, and professor of learning design.
